The new and improved Standards and Quality News (S&Q, for short) by SIRIM Berhad is finally out!
The theme of this issue of S&Q News is energy depletion, and how energy standardisation is helping fulfill our demand for unlimited energy. The newsletter’s articles are written by experts on energy conservation and efficiency from Pusat Tenaga Malaysia, SIRIM Berhad and the Technical Committee on Energy Management. The writers discuss Malaysia’s national energy policy and the Malaysian Standard MS 1837 for solar photovoltaic systems. They also talk about the Malaysian Energy Efficiency and Labeling Programme at SIRIM QAS International, and take an in-depth look how companies can save energy through effective maintenance.
It is heartening to note that the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is already busy with several initiatives that will contribute to the fight against climate change, including the development of the new ISO 50001 standard on energy management systems, standards on energy efficiency and renewable energy, and transport-related standards such as those for electric vehicles and intelligent transport systems.
